Part of the responsibility of a nursing home in Queens is to make sure that their residents receive the right kind of medication and the correct dose of that medication. Improper medication given to patients can cause severe problems and some have even died from the errors made. Patients have suffered from additional health issues due to such nursing home negligence and the tragic thing is that in some cases the overmedication is deliberate.
Doctors make mistakes. Some of these mistakes are minor and do not cause injury to a patient, but others cause grievous harm and can lead to permanent injury or death. Although women have been giving birth to babies for centuries, a number of problems can arise and if the attending physician does not respond appropriately birth injuries can result. That is the claim of a family who filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the attending physician who delivered their baby and the clinic and hospital involved. This story did not originate out of New York it unfortunately, is not a story unique to any one area.
Although this story is not directly related to medical malpractice but is more a medical or pharmaceutical product liability issue, it is none the less important to New York patients of pain clinics and other medical facilities that utilize injected steroids in its practice. No doubt many New York residents have seen the numerous reports involving tainted steroids and the deadly outbreak of fungal meningitis spreading across the country. Now the officers and executives behind the company, New England Compounding Center, responsible for the outbreak have been named as defendants in a civil lawsuit aimed at freezing their personal and business assets.
The New York Daily News is reporting on an extremely tragic event and subsequent wrongful death suit filed by a couple that claims their obstetrician-gynecologist was medically negligent during the birth of their child ultimately killing him. The couple claims in their suit that the doctor caused the baby's head to separate from his body after he became stuck in the mother's birth canal and the doctor tried to pull him out. But the story only gets worse from here. The couple also claims that initially the doctor refused to perform a C-section and after he internally decapitated the child he attempted to cover up his mistake by trying to push the baby back into the womb in order to perform an emergency C-section. The details of this particular wrongful death complaint are absolutely horrifying. The alleged medical malpractice occurred in the spring of last year. In a late February 2011 appointment, the couple claims one doctor told them the baby would need to be delivered by C-section because his abdomen was too large for a normal vaginal birth.
Elevators are such an established part of modern urban life that we've come to take them for granted. But when they are not maintained properly, they can cause serious injury or even death in a New York escalator accident.
