New York nursing organization under fire after patient's death

Unfortunately, nursing home negligence occurs more often than many people realize. In New York, NY, stories about patients who have experienced nursing home abuse continue to appear in the news. From malnutrition to overmedication, this abuse takes many forms and must be addressed whenever it takes place.

The loved ones of a 99-year-old man who recently died claim that he was abused by nursing aides. Furthermore, they say he passed away due to injuries caused by the abuse, which was recorded on surveillance cameras. As a result, the family is taking legal action against the nursing organization in an attempt to prevent other families from experiencing the hardships they have been through.

According to the family's attorney, there are currently no ways for the public to view complaints that have been filed against nursing aides. Additionally, some of the aides involved in this case could be found on the website of the State Department of Health and were still authorized for employment. However, the state claims that records are not always current and could be incomplete.

Sadly, some families are not always aware of the abuse their family member has endured. When people place a close relative in a nursing home or hire a nursing aide to provide in-home care, they expect their loved one to be treated properly. Those who have found out about abuse occurring should do everything they can to hold whoever is responsible accountable. If someone decides to file a lawsuit, they could benefit from discussing the situation with a legal professional.
