One procedure linked to major surgical mistakes

Any medical device and/or course of treatment that promises to improve patient care and quality of life is worth considering. And for all of the people in the state of New York and beyond that suffer from chronic back problems and pain, the need for effective treatment options is dire. Unfortunately, however, some procedures come with unique risks and issues. The prevalence of serious surgical errors relating to one specific spinal procedure is gaining attention, raising concerns over medical guidelines and physician training.

Birth injury prevention takes front seat

Learning that a child has sustained a brain injury can be frightening for parents, especially when the child is a newborn baby. Tragically, however, incidents of medical malpractice relating to neonatal brain injuries are not entirely uncommon because such medical conditions can be overlooked and/or misdiagnosed by physicians, leading to significant delays in treatment. It's for that reason that two medical organizations are promoting efforts to raise awareness of neonatal brain injuries in hopes of improving prevention techniques and treatments.

Doctor errors contribute to the spread of infections

Those familiar with medicine and patient care may agree that sometimes the lack of infection prevention and/or treatment can be just as bad as incorrect treatment. The spread of infection is a major issue in hospitals throughout the state of New York and the entire country, as hospital patients can be especially vulnerable to illnesses and injuries. And while strict guidelines are in place to help protect patients from infections in the hospital setting, there is evidence to suggest that issues like hospital negligence continue to expose patients to unhealthy conditions.

New York leads the nation in medical malpractice payout

Residents in the state of New York have as much reason as citizens in the rest of the country to be concerned about the rate of doctor errors or other forms of medical malpractice. From birth injuries to surgical errors and beyond, the results of such situations can cause serious personal injuries or even death to victims. The law allows for affected parties to seek compensation when this happens, although the outcome can vary greatly.
