Surgical errors result in loss of New York man’s nose

| Jun 12, 2013 | Surgical Errors

Doctors in New York City who decide to specialize in surgery spend years learning from more experienced physicians and therefore it is difficult to understand why surgical errors happen. When a patient is injured during a surgery, that person may have to undergo additional surgeries in order to repair the damage, experience undue pain and suffering, and face thousands of dollars in additional medical care.

This appears to be the future facing a New York man after already having gone through 22 surgeries. What started out as a simple nose job has turned into a nightmare according to the medical malpractice lawsuit the man filed against his plastic surgeon. The multiple errors the man experienced has led to the loss of his nose, which was removed by the surgeon without the man’s consent.

In addition to the numerous errors made, the man also claims that his medication prescriptions were potentially lethal, that the doctor performed a surgery he was not licensed to perform, and that parts of his ears were used against his wishes in operations. Apparently the man has suffered breathing problems from the first surgery which were not alleviated after the additional procedures.

When a surgeon makes an error, it is the patient who must endure the aftereffects and this can lead to years of pain and additional medical conditions. In such cases, it may be beneficial to speak with an experienced attorney who can explain the patient’s rights to them and assist them in obtaining the compensation to which they may be entitled.
