New York Student Dies In Bus/Bridge Accident

Even though buses are one of the most common and economical mode of transportation, they are not exempt from danger. Unfortunately, buses often cause severe accidents because of their sheer size and lack of quick maneuverability. And tragically, bus accidents often seem even more heartbreaking since they often carry small or young children - who can be more prone or vulnerable to injuries.

The severity of bus injuries was recently illustrated by the unfortunate death of a 16-year-old student from a local New York City prep school, who was killed on a bus traveling from his school to New Jersey for a Sweet 16 birthday party.

The accident occurred in Fort Lee, New Jersey, when the bus went under the Fletcher Avenue overpass. The student was on the top decker of a double-decker bus. According to reports, the student who passed-away was popping out of a hatch in the roof of the bus.

Unfortunately for these students, disaster struck as they were headed for what was supposed to be a cheerful event. The accident occurred when the student's head banged into the overpass near George Washington Bridge while he was popping out of the bus roof hatch. The student suffered a serious head injury and died at Hackensack University Medical Center.

While the bus accident in this case is different than most, it still illustrates the severity of injuries bus accidents can cause. Victims of other bus accidents are also at risk of severe injuries, such as cuts and bruises, fractures, and in some cases, even death. The victims or the victim's family in many of these cases can claim compensation for personal injury or death due to negligence. The victim or the victim's family can also claim compensation for pain and suffering, medical expenses and many other accident-related costs.
