The Emergency Homeowner’s Loan Program (EHLP)

| Jul 1, 2011 | Real Estate

There is a new federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently launched to assist homeowners unable to make their monthly mortgage payments. However, any homeowner interested in applying to this program must submit their application no later than July 22, 2011. Therefore, time is of the essence and it is crucial to quickly review the eligibility requirements, and if you qualify for this program, apply immediately.

The goal of this program is to help homeowners unable to make their mortgage payments due to either loss of employment, loss of substantial employment income, or due to medical emergencies, by providing interest free loans of up to $50,000.00. The loans are forgivable. Payments are sent directly to the lenders.

According to eligibility rules, the homeowner must be at least three months delinquent in mortgage payments to qualify. There is a pre-applicant screening worksheet that homeowners must complete and submit no later than July 22, 2011. The application and further information is available at www.Findehlp.org or by calling toll free, 855-FIND-EHLP (855-346-3345).
